The Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana for the President of BGK

The President of the Republic of Estonia awarded state decorations for the president of the management board of BGK – Beata Daszyńska Muzyczka for her commitment in deepening friendly relations with Estonia.

This year it was 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. On this occasion the president of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid has bestowed 152 state decorations Order of the Cross Terra Mariana. Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, the president of the management board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, was among those awarded.

- On behalf of myself, Poland and all those engaged in building the Three Seas Initiative, I thank the president of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid very much for this great honor! – tweeted the president of BGK. On the official website of the President of Estonia we read: “the state decorations are the recognition for the perseverance in the activities and loyalty to the contemporary Estonian values of openness and democracy, knowledge and entrepreneurship (...).”

The president of Estonia, presenting Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka with the Order, said that nobody has worked so hard and persistently for the 3SIIF. It is the BGK president’s efforts – according to president Kaljulaid – that have convinced the politicians from the region that not only the joint infrastructure projects are important, but also that these projects should bring returns on the investments.

Estonia joined the Three Seas Fund in September 2020, as the third country after Poland and Romania, and has committed to invest 20 million Euros. According to the minister of foreign affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, the fund acts as a strong stimulus to overcome the strategic lacks in the infrastructure investments, especially in such areas as energy safety, digital networks and transport connections. Martin Helme, the minister of finance of Estonia, said that the fund will provide the Estonian companies with additional possibilities to raise capital in the region of Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Adriatic Sea, as the Polish Radio reported.

The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund is an economic dimension of the Three Seas Initiative. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego is its initiator, co-founder and main investor. The Fund invests in infrastructure projects in the Three Seas region in three areas: transport, energy and digital technologies. Apart from strengthening cooperation and improving infrastructure within the region, the Fund’s goal is to provide profit to its investors. Professional and independent entities are responsible for the Fund’s investment process.

Institutions representing the Three Seas countries, international financial institutions and private investors from all over the world may be the investors in the Fund. It is estimated that the Fund will ultimately have at its disposal from 3 to 5 billion euro, investing in the projects of total worth up to 100 billion euro. The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund funds are complementary to the public money and European Union funds.
